Personal Profile:

Hongwei Hou, Ph.D., Professor of Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences.  Leader of Aquatic Plant Physiology Group.Obtained bachelors degree from the Department of Biology at Henan Normal University in 1989. Obtained Ph.D. degree from the Department of Plant Molecular and Developmental Biology at Peking University in 2004. Did visiting studies at the University of Lethbridge, the University of Toronto, and at research centers of Agriculture and Agri-food Canada before returning to China in 2014.          

Past research focuses:    

Past research focuses include genes involved in leaf development in Arabidopsis, the roles of members of the MYB transcription factor family in modulating lignin biosynthesis, and mechanism of auxin and cytokinin in development of nitrogen-fixing nodules.    

Current research interests:   

1. Plant morphogenesis and heterophylly development in aquatic macrophytes.   

2. Biodiversity and adaptability study in aquatic macrophytes   

3. Aquatic plant and ecological remediation study.     

4. Aquatic plant biotechnology and application.
