Research Directions:
Research in ichthyology and biogeography. Current fields of specific interests include the impacts of global climate change and the uplift of the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau on fish fauna and regional differentiation, history biogeography of freshwater fishes, the origin of biological diversity and its associated geological environmental processes, biological invasion and adaptive evolution. I am also working on the species differentiation in morphological and molecular levels of plateau endemic fishes and its related environmental process, especially the mechanism of speciation associated with the uplift of the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau.
