He obtained his PhD in 1997 in the Institute of Hydrobiology, CAS. He is now severing as the vice head of State Key Laboratory of Freshwater Ecology and Biotechnology, vice editor in chief of Acta Hydrobiologica Sinica, council member of the Society of Aquatic Animal Nutrition and Feed of China, the Society of Ichthyology of China. He is now in the editor board of Aquaculture Nutrition, Freshwater Fisheries (of China), Journal of Fishery Sciences of China. He has got the Award for the Youth of Science and Technology of Hubei Province in 1997, Second Award of Natural Science of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (2nd participator) in 1998, Third Award of Natural Science of China by the Ministry of Science and Technology Committee (4th participator) in 1999, First Award of Advanced Science and Technology of Hubei Province (in charge) in 2003, Second Award of Advanced Science and Technology of China (2^nd participator) in 2005, National selection for “Million and Billion Excellent Scientists of New Century” in 2006, the Award for the Youth of Science and Technology of China in 2007.
