    博士,中国科学院水生生物所二级研究员,博士生导师,鱼类生物学及渔业生物技术研究中心主任,所学位委员会副主任。《水生生物学报》、《微生物学报》、《微生物学通报》和《中国水产科学》编委;国际病毒分类委员会委员;湖北省微生物学会和湖北省电镜学会理事;农业部水产养殖病害防治专家委员会委员。 
    在武汉大学病毒学系获理学学士学位;在美国俄亥俄医学院获生物医学硕士学位;在中国科学院水生生物研究所获理学博士学位。先后在中国科学院武汉病毒研究所、美国俄亥俄医学院、美国加州大学圣迭戈分校 (University of California,San Diego) 和中国科学院水生生物研究所从事病毒学及分子生物学相关领域的研究工作。发表论文190余篇,其中SCI论文90篇;主(著)编论著2部,参编论著8部。获国家授权发明专利6项,获湖北省自然科学二等奖、中国科学院优秀研究生导师奖、中国科学院教学成果二等奖和中国科学院朱李月华优秀教师奖。培养毕业研究生共32名(博士22名),其中2篇博士论文入选湖北“省优博论文”,5人次获“研究生国家奖”,研究生人数过半获其他奖项。
    主持的学科组长期从事水生病毒学及其分子生物学研究。运用和/或创建水生病毒重组、cDNA文库构建与转录组、荧光显微与生物电镜、分子免疫及病毒入侵示踪等技术,结合细胞工程与常规病毒学方法,从水生爬行类、两栖类、鱼虾及藻类中,进行病毒病原的人工培养与分离鉴定;解析病毒基因组,阐明病毒基因的功能;揭示水生病毒分子遗传进化特点及其与宿主和水环境互作机制;研发水产病毒病免疫防控技术与对策,发掘与应用水生病毒资源。推动水生病毒学学科的建设,提升我国水生病毒研究领域的国际影响力。
